Guide: Boost your computer.1. Removing unneccessary processes from startup

October 3, 2009

Hello everyone and welcome to my first guide. This guide will make you get the most of your computer power and mostly help you remove unneccessary stuff slowing down your computer.

1. Removing unneccessary processes.

When using a computer on a daily basis, you often stumble on different sites and programs telling you that you need to install a software. These softwares sometimes put themself into always running on your computer and checking if you are visiting the website or whatever you need them for.

For example: If you ever installed/used java im almost sure that you are right now running a process using about 1000k of your ram checking if you are visiting sites using java. Now you are probably thinking , but what if i do visit a site that needs me to use java? It is simple, when visiting a site using java the site tells the computer to start java. The reason you are already running a little java starter is to start it faster.

Having a iPod/iPhone or ever installed iTunes? Then you have a 4600k iTunes helper module always running on your pc even when iTunes is not.

Discovering and removing processes.

Start the Task Manager.(ctrl+alt+delete) Press the tab called processes.

Task manager1

Here you can see all processes curently running.

Tip. Press the user name dropdown to sort by user name. The ones using your login name are the ones that are safely to kill without shutting down your pc, although you should not kill any possess unless you know exactly what the process is for. The ones using SYSTEM as user name are the ones that are very critical to touch. And closing some of them results in your pc trying to shut down.

Note: Killing a process here doesnt mean it cant be started again.

We will not kill any processes with the task manager since then we would only end them for this session. Instead we will remove the process from auto starting with your computer start.

Preventing processes from auto starting when starting your computer.

Press “windows button+r” wich is shortcomand for RUN.

windows r

Type “msconfig” in the box and hit ok/enter.

RUN

Press the startup tab.

msconfig

Uncheck processes you dont feel you need to start when starting your computer and hit apply.

I had 4 startups i dont need and i it was only a week since i formatted it.

startup

Hit apply and you are done! (Need computer restart)

New page up!: Logical Philosophy

August 5, 2009

I now opened up a new page on this site called logical philosophy.

Basically its just some logical thinking from me not accepting false as an answer.

The basic idea is too logical understand us humans. But mainly it’s more about what positive and negative really is. I will think as deep as possible and won’t accept illogical conclusions.

Variable speed test

August 3, 2009

So, it started out by that i wanted to know what would be faster.
Creating an array like: spell_firebolt[damage]
or an 2d array like spell[firebolt, damage]

So i made a program to create 100*500 variables of each, recording the time and then i did some calculating.

And the results where pretty outstanding.
Creating a 2d array like above would earn you 7,8585 milisecounds instead of an 1 dimensinal array with the “id” in the name. (EACH TIME!!)

Hacker gets inside nasa`s database

July 31, 2009

Gary Mckinnon, british computer hacker made a succesful atempt to get into nasa`s database. Gary Mckinnon did not meen any harm, he was just so fascinated about aliens ufos and living creatures outside our world.  Gary might get 60 years in high security prision for this becuse of the “repair” costs for nasa.

But whats ironic is that he didnt realy harm anything. What nasa actually meens with repair cost is what i think actully just what it will cost to make their security moore secure.  And i must say i got pretty surprised about nasa having such big database that is actually hidden for most of mankind.

Project: A better os

July 30, 2009

I am “currently” not working on but i have a project that i am putting my hands on from time to time. And that is a advance and what i feel a better operating environment.

The operating system will be run under windows and all of its versions and will use the system files that windows use but redesign the environment for your desktop and file moving and so on.

Here is a picture to what the operating system of today looks now and what i am trying to accomplish. Notice that what i mean with programs are programs running.

The operative systems today:

consept01

And my idea:

consept02

As you can se what i am working on is a operating system that is run under your current windows system. For example lets say you have some programs running and when you whant to move files you simply go to your desktop and move them there.

And here is another picture i drew to show how the file “setup” is built in today’s os`s:

file-concept

Many people that are not as familiar with the pc as others do often see the desktop as everything. If something don’t exist on the desktop they think its totally gone. But we all know it isn’t, it is just simple hidden under the hard drive and that the desktop is just a mash up of shortcuts to different files in your computer.  And when putting a file on your desktop it wont be moved to the root but actually C:\Documents and Settings\”user name”\desktop.

My operative system will not do this, it will simply show you the c:\ on your desktop. And on your desktop there will be a folder called programs where EVERY little program you installed there will be. And it will be simple for a newbie to start the program you want since the program would be executed just by clicking on its “folder” which would have the same icon as the program.

here is a picture of my operating system`s file concept:

Thanks for your attention i will take this subject up later
